Measuring HDMI Video Latency
This page describes how to measure HDMI video latency with a Murideo Seven Generator.
⚠️ The Murideo Seven Generator reports a display’s input lag as “video latency” when measuring at the center of the screen. Follow these steps to measure video latency instead.
⚠️ The brightness of the display has a substantial impact on measurements.
Steps
- Adjust the display to maximum brightness.
- Position the light sensor as close to the center of the screen as possible.
- Use the following table to calculate the actual video latency based on the reported “video latency”:
| Refresh Rate | Calculation |
|---|---|
| 24 Hz | subtract 22 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 25 Hz | subtract 21 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 29.97 Hz | subtract 17 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 30 Hz | subtract 17 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 50 Hz | subtract 10 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 59.94 Hz | subtract 9 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 60 Hz | subtract 9 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 119.88 Hz | subtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 120 Hz | subtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 144 Hz | subtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 165 Hz | subtract 3 ms from “video latency” measurement |
| 240 Hz | subtract 2 ms from “video latency” measurement |
