Murideo Seven Generator

Measuring HDMI Video Latency

This page describes how to measure HDMI video latency with a Murideo Seven Generator.

⚠️ The Murideo Seven Generator reports a display’s input lag as “video latency” when measuring at the center of the screen. Follow these steps to measure video latency instead.
⚠️ The brightness of the display has a substantial impact on measurements.

Steps

  1. Adjust the display to maximum brightness.
  2. Position the light sensor as close to the center of the screen as possible.
  3. Use the following table to calculate the actual video latency based on the reported “video latency”:
Refresh RateCalculation
24 Hzsubtract 22 ms from “video latency” measurement
25 Hzsubtract 21 ms from “video latency” measurement
29.97 Hzsubtract 17 ms from “video latency” measurement
30 Hzsubtract 17 ms from “video latency” measurement
50 Hzsubtract 10 ms from “video latency” measurement
59.94 Hzsubtract 9 ms from “video latency” measurement
60 Hzsubtract 9 ms from “video latency” measurement
119.88 Hzsubtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement
120 Hzsubtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement
144 Hzsubtract 4 ms from “video latency” measurement
165 Hzsubtract 3 ms from “video latency” measurement
240 Hzsubtract 2 ms from “video latency” measurement
